| Abstract |
In this document I report my contributions to a feasibility study for the design of an automatic car plate recognition system in collaboration with Imavis s.r.l . I will describe the problems encountered and the strategies I adopted to solve them. The document focuses on the image processing and pattern recognition issues. I exploited relatively simple image filtering techniques for plate detection and digit segmentation, and a classification architecture based on Support Vector Machines that allows us to obtain state-of-the-art classification performance on a variety of real world environments. |
