HOW TO INSTALL MPI/GAMMA 1) Install GAMMA in your cluster and test its functionality (for instance, run the "ping_pong" and the "barrier" microbenchmarks included in the GAMMA distribution). 2) Get the latest distribution of MPI/GAMMA from directory http://www.disi.unige.it/project/gamma/ in the form of a gzipped tar file named mpigamma-YY-MM-DD.tar.gz . 3) Get MPICH 1.2.7 subversion "p1" and install its source tree somewhere in your file system. You can get MPICH 1.2.7p1 at the following URL: http://www.disi.unige.it/project/gamma/mpigamma/mpich-1.2.7.tar.gz 4) Untar MPICH 1.2.7p1. This should create a directory mpich/ containing all the MPICH source tree. If the created directory has a different name, rename it to "mpich" 5) Let's suppose the MPICH source tree is at /home/you/mpich . Put mpigamma-YY-MM-DD.tar.gz at /home/you, then run tar xvzf mpigamma-YY-MM-DD.tar.gz . This will replace some of the MPICH files, and will also add new files (see next). 6) Read the file /home/you/mpich/README.GAMMA and follow its directions.
