These are very schematic directions to install GAMMA on a network with -) at least 2 PCs, each equipped with a GAMMA-supported network adapter (see GAMMA web page, http://www.disi.unige.it/project/gamma). -) a Gigabit Ethernet switch, connecting the PCs to one another. If you have only 2 PCs you may consider a back-to-back connection using a crossover cable. -) Linux 2.6.24, with source files installed on the PC where you are going to compile GAMMA. 1) Get the latest gamma.tgz from the GAMMA web page, http://www.disi.unige.it/project/GAMMA. Place it somewhere in your file system (your home dir is OK). 2) Unpack the source code with the following command: tar xvzf gamma.tgz A directory named "gamma" is then created, which contains all the stuff. 3) Under gamma/docs you will find the GAMMA installation manual (installGAMMA.pdf). Read it carefully while installing GAMMA. The manual is always worth a reading, although the installation procedure is quite simple in most cases ("configure && make && make install").
