Biographic information

Electronic engineer, assistant professor in computer science since year 2000,
PhD in "Models, methods, and tools for electronic and electro-magnetic systems",
since 1992 he has been doing research on neural network models, implementations
and applications in biomedical data processing, image and video analysis and
processing, and multimedia information processing.

His current research interests include machine learning and clustering
techniques for high-dimensional biomedical data analysis (since 2002 with funding
from: Ministry of University; University of Genova) and document analysis
(since 2003 with funding from: Ministry of University; European Commission;
INdAM-GNCS).

From 2003 to 2006 he has been the responsible for the Genova University in the
project "ICT for EU-India Cross-Cultural Dissemination", funded by the European
Commission. He has been the responsible for the Genova
research unit for the project "Novel clustering techniques in bio-medical image
segmentation", funded by the Ministry of University in 2005-06. He is the
coordinator of the local project "Variable selection in supervised and
unsupervised biomedical problems", funded by the University of Genova in
2006-2007. In addition to leading research teams and project units, he was
also involved in several other funded research projects as a participant.

He has published 100 scientific papers in international journals and
conferences, as well as some contributed chapters in books.

Associate researcher of the National Inter-University Consortium for the
Sciences of Matter, member of the National Institute of Higher mathematics
"Francesco Severi", member of the international working group on "Soft
Computing in Image Processing".
