Biography

Enrico Puppo is professor of computer science and head of department at the Department of Informatics, Bioengineering, Robotics and System Engineering (DIBRIS) of the University of Genova. He is co-leader of the Geometry and Graphics Group.

He received a Laurea in Mathematics from the University of Genova, Italy, in March 1986. From April 1986 to October 1998 he has been research assistant, and next research scientist at the Institute for Applied Mathematics of the National Research Council of Italy. In different periods, between 1989 and 1992, he has been visiting researcher at the Center for Automation Research of the University of Maryland. From November 1998 to October 2000 he has been associate professor of computer science at the University of Genova.

Enrico Puppo has written over one hundred and twenty scientific publications on the subjects of algorithms and data structures for spatial data handling, geometric modeling, geometry processing, computational geometry, and image processing. His current research interests are in geometry processing, multi-scale analysis and modeling of shapes, and geometric data structures, with applications to Computer Graphics, Computer Aided Design, Architecture, Scientific Visualization, and Geographical Information Systems.

Enrico Puppo has been leader of research units in several international and national scientific projects. He is member of the editorial board of Journal Geoinformatica (Springer); he has been chairman and member of the program committee in several international conferences; he is a member of the Eurographics Association and the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR).
