Purpose of the Conference

Soft Computing is a newly introduced concept that encompasses intelligence-based methods including fuzzy logic, neural networks and genetic algorithms. This international symposium seeks to emphasize the current and potential applications of soft computing with the intent to attract broad interest in all engineering disciplines, computer science and related technology fields. The event is the successor of the highly successful meeting held in Reading (U.K.) in 1996 (SOCO'96) and encourages practitioners and researchers from industrial, governmental and academic institutions to meet and discuss the development.

Submissions of Papers

Prospective authors are requested to send an abstract of 500 words for review by the International Scientific Committee. All abstracts must be written in English, starting with a succinct statement of the problem, the results achieved, their significance and a comparison with previous work. If authors believe that more details are necessary to substantiate the main claims of the paper, they may include a clearly marked appendix that will be read at the discretion of the International Scientific Committee.

The abstract should also include:

Contributions are welcome from those working in industry and having experience in the topics of this conference as well as from academics. The conference language is English.

It is recommended to submit abstracts by electronic mail (ASCII text) to icsc@compusmart.ab.ca or else by fax or mail (2 copies) to the following address:
