Annual Reports

  • 2004. In the first year of PhD activity, I have investigated security issues related to peer-to-peer (p2p) protocols and p2p applications activity inside a network infrastructure. As a network administrator I have also evaluated some defense approaches against p2p security issues raised from p2p applications activity. In this way I have increased my technical knowledge on the effectiveness of proposed solutions. Moreover, I have evaluated some technologies (i.e. JXTA and JMX) useful to develop prototipal solutions for p2p infrastructure protocols and services. Furthermore, I have improved my research background on intrusion detection systems and proposed [whips04] an host based intrusion detection system for windows operating system, that may be a valuable contribution on strategies to adopt in order to secure a peer.
