ACTIVITIES:
Researchers involved in this area have a long-standing experience
in the field of regularization theory
of inverse problems, including methods and algorithms for their solution,
with applications to various domains of applied science such as microscopy,
astronomy, seismology and medical imaging. The activity is strongly
coordinated with that of colleagues in the Departments of Mathematics and
Physics, who participate in the same projects.
Presently the group is active in problems of image restorations with
applications to medicine, in particular Single Photon Emission Computerized
Tomography (SPECT) and Chirp-Pulse Microwave Computerized Tomography (CP-MCT),
and astronomy. In this case the activity concerns new generation telescopes
such as the Large Binocular Telescope
(
LBT), under construction on the
Mount Graham (Arizona), or the space telescope of the GAIA mission.
