| Abstract |
In this talk, I present an over view of pattern recognition in general Character recognition in particular. I discuss the steps involved in designing of pattern recognition system to recognize characters. This talk covers some conventional methods such as Template Matching, Histogram based, Hough Transform based, Graph Theoretical approach of character recognition and also I the merits and demerits of these methods. Finally, I explore some challenges in character recognition like Single Optical Character Recognizer for all world languages, Unconstrained Hand written Character Recognition, etc.
