Title: The VASCO Spatial Data Structure Applet

Abstract. (joint work with Frantisek Brabec) Features of the VASCO spatial data structure applet are described to support its demonstration. This includes an examination of the different R-tree node splitting methods implemented in VASCO. Different quadtree and k-d tree representations of point, line, and rectangle data are presented. The applet enables users to visualize different spatial data structures and as well as observe their behavior, in an animated manner, for finding the nearest neighbors to a query point and the objects within a given query window in an incremental manner.
