Abstract.
Volume Visualization, one of the main issue in Scientific
Visualization, concerns with the study of representation and
visualization techniques data distributed on a three dimensional
domain.
After a short presentation of the most common isusses in volume
visualization we discuss the adoption of tetrahedral complexes as the
basic structure for Volume Visualization. The adoption of this
structure permits many advantages ranging from its broad generality
(many kind of data can be supported) to the high efficiency in the
visualization process.
Moreover this approach falls within the broader proposal of using
simplicial complexes as the possible unifying data structure for
Scientific Visualization.
