Title: Spline wavelets on intervals and triangulations

Abstract. Piecewise polynomial splines are fundamental tools in applied mathematics, and B-splines the basis functions of choice. We will discuss how B-splines generate a multiresolution analysis on an interval and what the corresponding spline wavelets look like. Similar questions are then taken up concerning piecewise polynomial splines on bounded triangulations, where the situation is more difficult, and results are presented for piecewise linear hat functions only.
