This is an electronic version of a short talk that I gave at the APPSEM '98 workshop in Pisa, Italy, in September 1998. Preparing slides for a web presentation like this is a new experiment for me, so I welcome any feedback. The comments attached here are brief attempts to remember what I might have said as I gave the talk; I didn't have a script, and so I probably said a lot more or less for some slides. I hope there's still enough here for you to get a rough idea of what I was talking about!
